Privacy Policy

Bulletproof Handyman ("Bulletproof Handyman," "we," "us") runs bulletproofhandyman.com: free business tools, training, events, and community for handymen and home-service pros. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your information to run the site and the tools you asked for, and we do not sell your personal information.

1. Information you give us

• Account details. Name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in plain text), city and state, and an optional phone number. You also choose whether to get emails and text/push notifications.
• Business and tool data. What you enter into our tools: business profile, calculator and rate book answers, startup budgets, business plans, tool inventories (including photos), and documents you save to your vault.
• Uploads. Project videos and photos you send to the AI Estimator; photos and videos you post to the community or event albums; and media you include with applications (for example, Founders & Fathers applications) or video submissions.
• Messages and posts. Contact form messages, questions you ask Ray's site helper, community posts, comments, direct messages, and event chats.
• Events. Registration details, tickets, check-ins, signed waivers and agreements, and travel details for in-person events.
• Payments. Paid event registrations are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly; we never see or store your full card number.
• Bookings. When you book a call or show with Ray, we collect your name, email, the time you pick, and anything you tell us about the meeting.
• Phone verification. Some community features ask you to verify a phone number with a one-time code sent by text, to keep out spam accounts.

2. Information collected automatically

• Site analytics (our own, first-party). Pages you visit, buttons and links you click, the site that referred you, campaign tags (UTM), device type, browser, operating system, and approximate location (country and city). This is tied to a random visitor ID stored in your browser, and to your account if you are logged in.
• IP address and logs. Our servers log requests, including IP address. We also record IP address on some records, such as signed waivers and agreements, application acknowledgments, and rate-limited tools, for security, abuse prevention, and proof of consent.
• Cookies and browser storage. We use a login session cookie to keep you signed in, and browser local/session storage for the analytics IDs above and your site preferences. We do not run third-party advertising pixels. Content we embed from others, such as YouTube videos and Google Maps, and partner sites you click through to, may set their own cookies under their own policies.

3. How we use your information

• To run your account and the tools, training, community, and events you use.
• To process event registrations and payments, and to schedule bookings.
• To send emails you need (verification, password resets, receipts, booking and event notices) and, if you opted in, our newsletter and updates.
• To send text messages under the SMS terms below, and browser push notifications if you allowed them.
• To produce AI results you ask for (see section 4).
• To understand how the site is used and make it better.
• To keep the site secure, stop spam and abuse, and meet legal obligations.

4. AI features

Several tools use artificial intelligence, including the AI Estimator, Ray's site helper, the business name and brand generator, the business plan builder, license research, and image generation. When you use one, the content you submit (for example, your project video, your zip code, or your question) is sent to an AI provider to produce your result. We currently use Google (Gemini and Vertex AI), OpenAI, xAI, Anthropic, and fal.ai. Some processing runs on servers we operate ourselves. We send only what the feature needs. Please don't upload anything you don't want processed, such as other people's faces or personal documents.

5. How we share information

We share information only as described here.

• Service providers who run parts of the site for us, and only so they can do that work:
  • Replit (website hosting) and Neon (database)
  • Google Cloud Storage (file and media storage)
  • Twilio SendGrid (email delivery)
  • Quo, formerly OpenPhone (text messages and verification codes)
  • Stripe (payments)
  • Google Calendar and Google Meet, and StreamYard (booking calls and live shows)
  • The AI providers listed in section 4
  • LocationIQ and Google Maps (location lookups and maps)
  • Your browser's push notification service (if you enable push)
• Public content. Community posts, comments, profiles, and album photos are visible to other people according to the visibility you choose.
• Affiliate and partner links. Some links, such as Home Depot product links (through the Impact network), Jobber, and partners on our Partners page, are affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you buy. When you click, you go to their site and their privacy policy applies. We do not give them your account information.
• Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or Bulletproof Handyman.
• Business transfer. If Bulletproof Handyman is sold or merged, your information may transfer as part of that deal, still covered by this policy.
• With your consent. Anywhere else, only if you tell us to.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. SMS / Text Message Terms

Program name: Bulletproof Handyman Text Alerts.

• What we send: event and booking notices, account and security messages (including one-time verification codes), and, only if you specifically opt in to them, updates about new tools, training, events, and offers from Bulletproof Handyman.
• How you join: by checking the text message box on a Bulletproof Handyman form (for example, when you create an account), or, where we publish one, by texting our join keyword. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase.
• Message frequency varies.
• Msg & data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. After you reply STOP, we will send one message confirming you are unsubscribed, and then no more texts unless you rejoin. You can also email duke@bulletproofhandyman.com for help.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

7. Email and push notifications

Newsletter and update emails include an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to stop them. We will still send messages you need for your account, bookings, events, or purchases. Browser push notifications are sent only if you allow them, and you can turn them off at any time in your browser settings.

8. Google user data and Google API Limited Use

We use Google APIs to run our own business accounts, for example our Google Calendar and Gmail, to schedule booked calls and send confirmations. When you book a time, your name, email, and booking details are added to our calendar and used only to hold that meeting and follow up about it.

If one of our applications asks you to connect your Google account, we will request only the access needed for the feature you turn on, and we will use that data only to provide that feature to you. Bulletproof Handyman's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized AI or machine-learning models. People do not read it unless you give permission, it is needed for security or to investigate abuse, or the law requires it.

9. How long we keep information

We keep account and tool data while your account is active. We keep analytics and server logs for as long as they help us understand and secure the site. We keep payment, event, and consent records (such as waivers and text-message opt-ins) as long as needed for accounting, legal, and proof-of-consent purposes. When you ask us to delete your information, we delete it unless we are required to keep it.

10. Your choices and rights

• Access, correct, or delete. Email duke@bulletproofhandyman.com from the email address on your account with the subject "Privacy request." Tell us what you want. We will verify it's you and respond within 30 days.
• Texts: reply STOP at any time.
• Email: use the unsubscribe link, or email us.
• Push: turn it off in your browser settings.
• Browser storage: you can clear cookies and local storage in your browser. If you clear the session cookie, you will be signed out.

Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights. We will honor those requests as the law requires. Our site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

11. Security

We use HTTPS, store passwords only as one-way hashes, and limit access to personal information to the people and services that need it to run the site. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If you think your account has been compromised, email us right away.

12. Children

Bulletproof Handyman is built for adults running or starting a business. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

13. Where we operate

Bulletproof Handyman is based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will give notice on the site or by email.
